Fresh Look - Multimark Going

CP Rail is phasing out the use of the familiar multimark on its locomotives and other railway equipment.

"With recent changes within the Canadian Pacific transportation group, the effectiveness of the multimark has lessened", said K.F. Key, director of communications, corporate communications and public affairs, CP Rail.

Elimination of the black triangle and white circle background when the equipment is repainted also will result in cost savings, he said.

The first locomotive released on the system without the multimark was outshopped at Ogden Shops, 11 Aug 1987. It was number 8162.

Above, Number 1684, a rebuilt Toronto, Hamilton & Buffalo locomotive, leaves Angus Shops with its fresh new look.
