Crossing Fatality
Virden - A 66-year-old rural Manitoba woman died
Saturday morning after colliding with a train at a crossing in Virden.
At 11 a.m. Saturday, a 1994 Buick Skylark failed to stop at the crossing, said officers from the
Westman RCMP detachment. The woman was alone.
The crossing is controlled by bells and flashing lights, both of which were activated at the time,
Mounties said.
The woman's name had not been released last night pending notification of kin.
Mounties continue to investigate the death, in conjunction with provincial safety officials and
CP Rail police.
