Train Kills Pedestrian
MacGregor - A 22-year-old Winnipeg woman is
dead after being struck by a train while walking across the train tracks near MacGregor early Sunday
morning.
Leigh-Anne Dunbar suffered severe head trauma and died at the scene, said RCMP spokesman
Sgt. Steve Colwell.
Dunbar and her boyfriend, who lives in the town, were reportedly crossing the tracks when she tripped
and was struck by the eastbound train while returning from a party.
Portage la Prairie RCMP, along with rescue responders, were called to the accident shortly before 2:30
a.m. but were unable to save the woman's life.
The woman's boyfriend was not injured.
The train was reportedly travelling eastbound about 90 km/h. MacGregor is 105 kilometres west of
Winnipeg.
Mounties are continuing to investigate and have not determined whether alcohol played a factor in the
incident.
