Fund-Raising Campaign Worked Out Well for Local Museums' Collective
Revelstoke - When the CPR Empress steamed into Revelstoke almost two months ago, so did the
proceeds from the eager passengers that purchased the tickets for the historically themed fund-raising event.
On board the Empress that day were a group of international railroad enthusiasts and a lucky group of 41 passengers from Revelstoke.
The Empress steamer engine serves as CPR's roving community ambassador, travelling the CPR network celebrating Canadian heritage and
supporting community events. The resurrected locomotive 2816 re-entered active service in 2001 and is now a significant
component of the company's Community Connect program.
The Revelstoke passengers were on a special Golden-to-Revelstoke portion of the excursion organized by the Revelstoke
Museum and Gallery Collective as a fund-raiser to benefit its member organizations. The fund-raiser was a
great success as the 41 available tickets were sold out completely within three days.
After expenses, each participating organization may now add $1,132.30 to their operating revenues.
The Collective was created to develop a joint-marketing strategy for the Revelstoke Museum & Archives, the B.C.
Interior Forestry Museum, the Revelstoke Visual Arts Centre and the Revelstoke Railway Museum. Its members want to promote
culturally-based tourism in Revelstoke.
