Second Lawsuit Alleges Death Caused by 2002 Minot Derailment
Minot North Dakota - MINOT, N.D. - A second wrongful death lawsuit has been filed after a
derailment and chemical spill near this city in January 2002.
The latest lawsuit, filed in Northwest District Court, alleges David Cramer of Minot died of injuries suffered during the disaster. The
lawsuit seeks damages of at least $50,000 from the Canadian Pacific Railway.
The lawsuit alleges he suffered permanent injuries to his respiratory system when his car was caught in the anhydrous ammonia cloud
spilled during the derailment, and that it led to his death, at age 83, less than two years later.
Another wrongful death case is headed for trial 10 Oct 2005 in Minneapolis. That lawsuit was filed by the widow of John
Grabinger, who died the night of the derailment.
The Grabinger lawsuit alleges the railroad failed to properly inspect, maintain and repair its track. Railroad officials deny that,
saying workers maintain the track daily.
