Two Trains Derail in B.C.

Kamloops / Yale - Two trains derailed in the B.C. Interior within about an hour Tuesday.

In Kamloops, a CP Rail train was slowly moving into the railyard when four cars left the track, partially blocking the nearby Trans-Canada Highway.

Three cars were empty and the fourth contained glycol, used in making anti-freeze.

A CP spokesman says there was no hazard.

A mudslide is thought to have caused a CN Rail train to leave the tracks near Yale in the Fraser Canyon.

RCMP Constable Steve Hiscoe said it's believed the train hit the slide after the mud rolled onto the tracks.

Constable Hiscoe said two railway employees received minor injuries and were taken to hospital.

Environmental crews were on the way to the Yale derailment to assess the damage caused by a diesel spill.
