CP Train Derails in Southeastern B.C.
Briscoe - A CP Rail train carrying coal derailed Wednesday in southeastern B.C.
Railway spokesman Ed Greenburg said the 115-car train was carrying coal to Golden when 21 railcars slipped off the
tracks near Briscoe.
Greenburg said the derailment happened at about 4:30 a.m.
"It's too early to be able to speculate what may have caused this incident," said Greenburg.
"Certainly, as part of any situation like this, we have already begun collecting evidence at the scene to do a full
investigation into not only what caused this situation, but what led to the incident."
Greenburg said it's not clear how much coal spilled in the derailment, but crews on the scene confirmed that no waterways were
affected and there were no injuries.
