Cars Rerouted After Train Derails
Calgary - Traffic was rerouted briefly yesterday after three slow-moving Canadian
Pacific Railway cars slipped off the tracks in the city's southeast.
The train, pulling about eight cars, was moving along the tracks near Blackfoot Tr. and 46 Ave. S.E. when three carrying scrap metal
came off the tracks but remained upright, said rail spokesman Ed Greenberg.
"Unfortunately one car was right on the crossing," Greenberg said, adding the situation was fixed within about an hour.
"We apologize for any inconvenience... We move millions of cars in North America every year in a safe manner. Unfortunately, from
time to time, this does happen."
Officials are trying to determine what caused the derailment.
No one was injured in the mishap.
