Abbotsford - Abbotsford Police are investigating the death of a 20-year-old man
who was struck by a train just after midnight yesterday morning.
The man, from Abbotsford, is believed to have just attended a party on Page Road when he was hit by the train at Sumas Mountain Road and
Page Road.
Police were called to the scene at 12:10 a.m. where they discovered the man's body.
The body was then transported to Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster for an autopsy.
Abbotsford Police Sgt. Brett Crosby-Jones said it is not known why the man, whose name had not been released as of
yesterday lunchtime, was near the railway tracks.
While at the accident scene, Crosby-Jones said police officers noticed a burning bonfire and established it as the party
location. They then proceeded to interview some of the people at the party, he pointed out.
Crosby-Jones would not comment as to whether the man was believed to be under the influence of any substance, explaining
that will likely be established in a coroner's report.
