Canadian Pacific Railway Completes Sale of Indiana Line to Indiana Rail Road Co.
Canadian Pacific Railway announced that the sale of its Latta Subdivision to Indiana Rail Road Co.
closed today. The proposed sale was approved by the Surface Transportation Board in a decision that was effective 11 May 2006.
The Latta Subdivision consists of 92.3 miles of track from Fayette, which is near Terre Haute, to Bedford, Ind. The sale includes
trackage rights over CSX from Chicago to Terre Haute and from Bedford to Louisville, Ky. Indiana Rail Road Co. will take over all rail
operations on the line starting 27 May 2006.
Indiana Rail Road Co.(INRD)'s primary businesses include transporting coal from southwestern Indiana and the Powder River Basin in
Wyoming to several online coal-fired electric utilities. The company also ships products for Marathon Ashland's refinery
at Robinson, Ill., refrigerators from General Electric's plant in Bloomington, Ind., and moves raw materials into the Hershey chocolate
plant in Robinson. Other commodities handled include lumber, plastics, aggregates, food products, scrap metal and recyclables as well
