Major Funding Announcement for Schreiber
Schreiber Ontario - A major funding announcement was
made late last month regarding Schreiber's Railway Heritage Site. Schreiber's Heritage and Tourism committee received
one-hundred and nineteen thousand dollars from the provincial government for what will become a major tourist
attraction.
With such a rich rail history in the township of Schreiber, it comes as no surprise, that a lot of amazing artifacts are sitting in
peoples basements and garages, soon all of those artifacts will find a new home at the Railway Heritage and Festival site.
CP Rail has played a major role in the project, donating the train cars and some extra land near the site. Schreiber's Heritage and
Tourism committee also recently received some funding from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund.
Now, with some funding in place, the dedicated volunteers of this museum, festival and gathering site, can move the project into
high gear. The committee is hopeful that opening day will take place next spring, preserving Schreiber's unique railway history and
attracting new visitors to the community.
