Empress Train Rolls to Promote Brekkie for Kids
Revelstoke British Columbia - The Canadian Pacific
Railway's historic Empress Train will be in Revelstoke on 30 Jul 2006 as part of a tour to promote the Breakfast for
Learning program.
According to a statement, BFL wants to ensure that every child in Canada attends school well nourished and ready to learn. About 31
percent of elementary school kids and 62 percent of high school kids do not eat breakfast every day, it said.
Research shows that children who are well-nourished perform better at school, showing improved memory,
problem-solving skills, verbal fluency and creative abilities.
"Breakfast is undoubtedly the most important meal for kids," says, Carol Dombrow, Nutrition Consultant for BFL. "Even
during the summer, it's important not to take a vacation from healthy eating but to use the less hectic time to develop healthy eating
habits."
