Man Hit by Train
Calgary Alberta - A close encounter with a train landed a
city man in hospital in serious condition.
Calgary police, fire and EMS rushed to the CP Rail tracks underneath Glenmore Tr., just south of 61 Ave. S.E., about 6:15 p.m. yesterday
to find a 56-year-old suffering from serious leg, back, and head injuries.
He was taken to Foothills hospital in serious condition, but is expected to recover.
Reports the train amputated his foot could not be confirmed.
A CP Rail official said the 73-car freight train was travelling about 25 km/h when the crew spotted the man along the
tracks and made an emergency stop.
The railway's police are investigating and the train crew is being offered stress debriefing.
Last month, a man lost both his legs when he was hit by a train not far away, at Fisher Rd. and 71 Ave.
