Extra $20M Required for Wider Floodway
Winnipeg Manitoba - The Manitoba Floodway Authority will
spend an additional $20 million to dig a wider channel while scaling back some bridge work to ensure the expansion project stays
within the original $665-million budget.
Additional excavation means four existing highway bridges - Hwy. 59 North, Hwy. 15, St. Mary's Road and Hwy. 44 - and two existing
railway bridges won't need to be raised.
Bridge work either completed or still under construction includes the TransCanada, Hwy. 50 South and the Sprague CN Rail bridge.
The plan includes the replacement of CN Redditt, CP Emerson, and CP Keewatin railway bridges.
