No Toxic Spill in CPR Derailment
Illecillewaet British Columbia - A recent CP Rail
derailment along the Illecillewaet saw 19 cars go off the tracks most of them empty coal cars.
A few did contained window washer fluid, says a company spokesman.
"There were absolutely no environmental concerns or public safety issues", Ed Greenberg said.
He said the derailment occurred between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Sunday, 11 Mar 2007, and the spill of a small amount of
washer fluid occurred on and beside the track. Nothing was released into the Illecillewaet River itself, he said.
"We had an environmental expert on site and a a BC Environment official on hand", Greenberg said. "They signed off on
it".
The derailment was completely cleared by Tuesday, 13 Mar 2007.
