Labour Update
Operations
Friday, 1 Jun 2007
Train operations remain on plan. Locomotive power looks good heading into the weekend. The trains staged due to the incident near
Revelstoke will all be moving before end of business today as we return to normal fluid operations. Prompt work by the BCI team in
safely restoring the line yesterday was appreciated by many but in particular by guests on the Rocky Mountaineer who were able to
carry on to Kamloops.
Wednesday, 30 May 2007
Trains continue to operate without delays.
Negotiations
Saturday, 2 Jun 2007
The parties were contacted by the Minister of Labour to attend exploratory discussions on Monday with a Mediator to determine if there
is any change in position that would allow negotiations to recommence. The Company will attend.
Thursday, 31 May 2007
No talks scheduled.
Wednesday, 30 May 2007
On 29 May 2007 we received a letter from the Union indicating that it is open to negotiations or to any proposal or idea
that could lead the parties to a mutually acceptable negotiated settlement. Today the Company responded. The Company reaffirmed that
we remain open to discussion if it is meaningful. To be meaningful, the Union must respect our clearly explained position and the
negotiations must be consistent with the reasonable and above average settlements achieved with other unions. We have asked the Union
for clarification on their current thinking on this.
