Bring Back the Trains
Peterborough Ontario - We do not need anymore "bike
paths " or "skateboard rinks" in Peterborough, we need to get into the 21st century.
I have been saying this for years that we living in Peterborough do not have the option to travel around, other than the car or bus. If
you want to go out of Peterborough, forget it.
The railway line that ran from Toronto to Havelock should never have been closed as that put a lot of people out of work who travelled
that line for years.
The line from Peterborough to Lakefield was another big mistake, it should also never have been closed. There are tourists who would
depend on rail travel rather than cars and are used to train and bus travel. Even some of the Third World countries have rail travel.
Canada is at least 20 years behind most countries when it comes to alternative travel. They closed rail lines in the U.K. but found out
they had made a big mistake and reinstated some of the lines.
If it were left up to some of our members in city council we would be still at the "horse and buggy" stage.
