Man Escapes Train-Car Crash
Crash scene on Grenfel Road.
Barrie Ontario - One man was taken to hospital with a
minor hand injury last night after his sport utility vehicle struck the side of a moving train. The crash occurred at about 8:45 p.m.,
on Grenfel Road, where the tracks cross between Old Orchard Road and Portage Trail.
The SUV was heading north when it struck the side of the westbound freight train, said OPP Sgt. Joe Bosi. The approximately
50-car train wasn't carrying hazardous materials, he said.
The SUV sustained significant front-end damage, and remained at the scene as OPP and Canadian Pacific Railway
investigators surveyed the scene.
