General Committees at CP Rail Sign Memorandum of Settlement
The Bargaining Committee made up of the four General Committees
at CP who represent Engineeers, Conductors, Trainpersons, and Yardpersons, have signed a Memorandum of Settlement.
Negotiations began in September 2006 with the exchange of the initial proposals. The Memorandum of Settlement was achieved during the
13th Bargaining Session on the 60th day of face-to-face meetings. Federal Conciliator Paul MacDonnel was appointed to
assist when the parties declared an impasse in June. The 60 day conciliation period was mutually extended to 1 Sep 2007.
Preparations are being made to conduct a membership ratification process. Further details will be made available as the ratification
date is set, membership meetings are scheduled, and associated information is distributed throughout all four General Committees.
