Stuff Happens
Canadian Pacific Railway watering station at Exshaw,
Alberta.
Going west on Canadian Pacific Railway's Laggan Subdivision a
few weeks ago the Conductor and I discovered the second unit just wasn't loading right.
We called the Diesel Doctor.
Because it was a newer General Electric Gevo he had to contact the GE plant in Pennsylvania. The newer units can
only be diagnosed by satellite from the GE plant.
GE came back with the unit being low on water, or rather VERY low on water, and recommended that we stop at Exshaw
as there is a locomotive watering station there.
The attached photo shows the Conductor holding the watering hose to fill-up the 400 gallons of water
that the unit was short.
After looking at the photo you'll see why it took an hour to top-up the unit.
We had 2 other trains stopped waiting for us to finish.
