Still Waiting on CP Rail
Salmon Arm British Columbia - Just like Christmas, a
decision from CP Rail on double tracking of the rail line at Salmon Arm is coming... but the date remains an unknown.
At the end of June, Salmon Arm council held an in camera meeting with CPR officials, in response to a letter council had written
requesting double tracking through town. It was thought double tracking would do away, at least for the interim, with the
10-minute-plus stops for those trains that meet from opposite directions. Following the meeting, council members said the
meeting was positive and they were expecting to make a joint announcement with CP in July. However, that date came and went. Any plans
must be approved by CP Rail's board, which hadn't happened.
Mayor Marty Bootsma said he's hopeful an announcement may be coming by the end of this month.
