Off-Highway Vehicles to be Banned from Rail Bed
Paradise Nova Scotia - Barriers will soon be put in place
to prevent off-highway vehicles from using the abandoned Dominion Atlantic Railway line near this Annapolis County
community.
Plans to close the trail to motorized vehicles, beginning in January, were announced by the minister of natural resources about two
years ago in response to concerns from owners of property adjacent to the abandoned rail bed.
Since 2005, officials from the departments of Natural Resources and Health Promotion and Protection have consulted with individuals and
organizations in the community regarding off-highway vehicle trails.
The ban on motorized vehicles will be enforced by Natural Resources Department officers and, where appropriate, the RCMP. Operators who
ignore the ban can be charged under the Off-highway Vehicles Act and / or the Motor Vehicle
Act.
