Barricades Up in Paradise
Signs were posted and large concrete barricades were put in
place at both ends of the abandoned DAR railway line through Paradise last week.
Paradise Nova Scotia - People on snowmobiles or ATVs won't
be taking the abandoned rail line through Paradise anymore. Barricades went up at both ends of the community last week on orders of
Department of Natural Resources Minister David Morse.
The province said it remains open to working with interested groups to further explore trail options in the area.
The province said the departments of Natural Resources and Health Promotion and Protection are dedicated to helping
off-highway vehicle operators establish safe and responsible places to ride, while respecting the rights and needs of
others in the community in a fair and balanced manner.
The Paradise ban will be enforced by Department of Natural Resources officers and, where appropriate, RCMP. Operators who ignore the
ban can be charged under the Crown Lands Act and/or the Motor Vehicle Act.
