Cops Nab Copper Theft Suspect
Glengarry Ontario - Stormont, Dundas, and Glengarry OPP
have charged a 26-year-old South Glengarry man in connection with copper thefts at a local rail property.
Police said they received reports on 19 and 21 Feb 2008 from a CP Railway property off Concession 8 in South Glengarry.
Nearly 2,700 metres of copper wire went missing. The wire has an estimated value of $1,770. Police have recovered some of the property.
The accused was arrested last Wednesday at his home, where police also found two unregistered hunting rifles.
Police charged him with two counts of theft and two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm.
The man's name wasn't released. He's expected to appear in an Alexandria court 2 Apr 2008.
