Royal Hudson Number 2860 Steams Up
Squamish British Columbia - This past weekend
ex-Canadian Pacific Royal Hudson number 2860 was steamed up at the West Coast Railway Association park in Squamish BC.
This gave the crew an opportunity to run it a little bit and show her off to visitors at the park.
The steam up was in conjunction with a town art celebration in Squamish titled "Wild at Art".
The foundations have been laid for the construction of a nine stall roundhouse that will eventually be used to store this magnificent
locomotive along with other historic equipment at the WCRA park.
It's hoped to have the majority of the structure up by the end of the summer this year.
With permission from CN management the 2860 was allowed to venture off the museum property and run the length of the Squamish yard on
track 7.
Lets hope a deal can be worked out with CN to occasionally allow the 2860 to run on BC Rail track where she starred for 25 years in
excursion service.
It would be a shame to have this great engine trapped on yard tracks in Squamish.
