Canadian Government to Help Fund Road Upgrades Near CPR's Calgary Intermodal Facility
Calgary Alberta - The Canadian government will provide up to
$34.5 million to help the city of Calgary, Alberta, fund improvements to a main road leading to Canadian Pacific Railway's intermodal
yard.
The project calls for grade separating CPR's line and the Western Headwaters Canal, and widening the road from two lanes to either four
or six lanes.
The upgraded road will provide trucks a more efficient and safer approach to the yard, Canadian officials said in a prepared statement.
The project is part of the Asia-Pacific Gateway and Corridor Initiative.
The government will provide funds from the $2.1 billion Gateways and Border Crossings Fund, which was established to help improve the
flow of goods between Canada and other nations.
