Two Horses Killed in Train Collision
Oak Lake Manitoba - A pair of horses was killed when a
truck pulling a trailer collided with a train in western Manitoba on the weekend, Virden RCMP said.
Charges against the 16-year-old driver of the truck may be pending, RCMP said.
Police said the northbound truck and horse trailer collided with an eastbound CP Rail train when the 16-year-old failed to
stop at an uncontrolled rail crossing on Road 136 West, about five kilometres east of Oak Lake, yesterday at 5:25 p.m.
RCMP said the truck and trailer became unhitched during the collision, and the horses were killed on impact.
The driver of the truck was treated at Brandon Regional Health Centre for non-life threatening injuries.
RCMP would not say whether the driver was male or female.
Alcohol was not a factor, RCMP said.
