Pair Plead Guilty to Riding the Rails
Moose Jaw Saskatchewan - A 25-year-old man
and 17-year-old girl from British Columbia arrested Sunday for riding the rails pleaded guilty in provincial court Tuesday
to charges under the Railway Safety Act.
Aaron Appleton of Victoria and a girl from Vancouver who cannot be named due to provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, admitted
to riding in a cargo train without permission.
The pair, who got on the train in Broadview, were spotted leaving a rail car in the Moose Jaw yard around 9:30 p.m.
When arrested, Appleton had in his possession what police called a "train riders bible" containing an atlas of Canadian
Pacific Railway lines and crew change points.
Both he and the girl were put on probation for six months and prohibited from being on any railway property in Canada for the duration
of their probation.
