Holiday Train Coming on 14 Dec 2008
Canmore Alberta - The pedestrian crossing behind Sobey's
is where the Canadian Pacific food train will chug to a halt Sunday, 14 Dec 2008, at 4 p.m. and kick off this year's
annual fundraising for the food bank event.
Meet the train on and hear live music hosted by Mountain FM's Rob Murray. There will be hot chocolate to warm you as Canmore's Mayor
Ron Casey and the newly elected Conservative MP Blake Richards have their say.
Then entertainers Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame member Tracey Brown, CCMA winner Johnny Reid, Shaun Verreault, Wide Mouth Mason,
and Juno award-winning singer and songwriter Melanie Doane will warm you with holiday tunes.
Dress warmly and bring cash and food donations to help the less fortunate.
This is the tenth anniversary of the Holiday Train's charity drive, and it coincides with Canmore's 125th birthday.
Before the train's railway journey is complete it will stop at hundreds of communities across the U.S and Canada raising food, money,
and awareness for local food banks. It has raised $3 million dollars and 1.6 million pounds of food in a decade.
Local volunteers are needed to help out with a variety of tasks including collecting donations and serving hot chocolate. Please call
the food bank at 678-9488.
