Car, Train Collide on Notre Dame
A damaged van is towed after it
collided with a CP train at a rail crossing on Notre Dame Avenue near Wall Street this morning.
Winnipeg Manitoba - Winnipeg police and the Canadian Pacific Railway police are investigating
a collision between a van and a train near the intersection of Notre Dame Avenue and Wall Street at about 10 a.m. today.
Four people, of which two were taken to hospital, with one in stable condition, and the other unstable, were in the van.
Police spokeswoman Constable Jacqueline Chaput said information was sketchy at this time, adding it was not known if the injured persons were male or female.
She added, however, that the west bound lanes on Notre Dame have been opened, indicating that the injuries, "probably were not life threatening."
Chaput said that police are continuing to look into whether alcohol played a part in the accident. She also indicated that there is a possibility that the
CPP may take over the investigation.
