Truck Slams Into Railway-Crossing Barricade, Flees Scene
An Airdrie grade
crossing.
Airdrie Alberta - Airdrie RCMP is looking for a truck that slammed into a railway-crossing
barricade and then fled the scene.
Police say a black, newer model, Chevrolet Avalanche was travelling eastbound on 1st Avenue approaching the train tracks around 9:30 a.m. on 8 Jan 2010 at
the same time a train was travelling northbound on the tracks.
As the train approached, police say the railway crossing traffic control arms were down, with lights and bells activated to warn other vehicles.
However, the Avalanche was apparently unable to stop and slid into a railway traffic control crossing arm and subsequently a light standard as it came to the
intersection.
The suspect vehicle then fled the scene.
Damage to the light standard and the traffic control crossing arm was minimal, RCMP said.
Police continue to look for the truck and are seeking the public's assistance in locating it.
If you have any information about this incident and can possibly identify the suspect vehicle and the driver, Airdrie RCMP is requesting a call at
