Young Woman Hit by Train in Pitt Meadows
Pitt Meadows British Columbia - A 19-year-old girl remains in critical condition after being
hit by a train in Pitt Meadows early Sunday.
Ridge Meadows RCMP said the girl was walking over the railway tracks on Harris Road, near Hoffmann Park, around 4:30 a.m when she was struck.
The teen waited for one train to pass but was hit by a second train when she decided to cross the tracks while the flashing railroad crossing signal was
activated and barriers were down.
A police officer pulled her from under the train.
She was rushed to Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster with head and leg injuries.
Police said there is a possibility she may loose a leg.
Investigators believe alcohol was a factor in the accident.
