Bin Collapse Cleanup Under Way in Minot
Canadian Pacific hoppers knocked off track by grain bin collapse - Date unknown Ernest Letherby.
Minot North Dakota USA - Cleanup has begun at the site of a 100-foot-tall grain bin that
collapsed in Minot.
The work at SunPrairie Grain is expected to take at least three weeks.
Workers also are removing much of the 720,000 bushels of sunflowers stored in a bin that is a twin to the one that collapsed last Thursday, spilling $4 million
worth of wheat and knocking at least nine nearby railroad cars off the tracks. No one was hurt.
The cause of the collapse has not been determined. General Manager Brad Haugeberg says the sunflower removal from the second bin is a precautionary measure.
Haugeberg says the two bins are less than a year old and still under warranty.
