Late Night Accident on the Tracks Sends Young Canmore Man to Hospital with Unknown
Injuries
Canmore Alberta - A Canmore man was struck by a train in Canmore in the early hours Thursday,
24 Jun 2010.
Two men, both 18 years old, were on the tracks near the intersection of Railway Avenue and Benchlands Trail.
The man struck by the train was airlifted to a Calgary hospital with unknown injuries.
Canmore RCMP and Canadian Pacific Police arrived on scene shortly after 3 a.m.
RCMP said the train blew its whistle and confirmed that the flashing lights and crossing arms were functioning properly.
Alcohol is believed to be a factor, Cst. Garth Jenkins said.
As the incident is under investigation, depending on the injuries to the teen, charges could be pending, the RCMP is not offering many details.
"There is more to it," Jenkins said. "But as I say, it is under investigation."
Friends say the victim was Wesley Dominick.
