Teenaged Driver in Car-Train Collision

Tottenham Ontario - A 17-year-old female from Caledon was in a rear-ender with a CP train yesterday morning, near the Second Line on Tottenham Road with minor injuries and a ticket under the Highway Traffic Act.
 
Emergency crews were called to the scene at 7:50 am for the reported car-train collision.
 
According to the Nottawasaga OPP, the teenager was southbound on City Road 10 in a 2005 Dodge Neon then "failed to obey the railway crossing signal and proceeded unsafely onto the tracks" trying to beat the southbound train that struck the rear of her vehicle.
 
She was transported to Headwaters Hospital in Orangeville with non-life threatening injuries. The driver was charged under sec 163(1) Highway Traffic Act.
