DM&E Sees Little Damage from Flood
Rochester Minnesota USA - Recent flooding caused little damage locally on the Dakota, Minnesota
& Eastern Railroad, the Post-Bulletin in Rochester, Minnesota, reports.
Mike LoVecchio, spokesman for Canadian Pacific Railway, which owns DM&E, said no damage occurred on the east-west line, which passes through Rochester, but
that a small washout suspended traffic on the north-south line near Owatonna.
The line was expected to be restored to service shortly, LoVecchio said.
No incidents occurred involving any trains, he said.
The railroad sent out special track patrols to check rail condition and culverts on the line, and its train crews were also instructed to keep a close watch
for damage.
DM&E, and its sister line, the Iowa, Chicago & Eastern Railroad, sustained what appeared to be a considerable amount of flood damage earlier this year,
in separate events in the spring and summer.
"I think anybody would agree it's been a very wet year," LoVecchio said.
