Rick Mercer's Last Spike Special to Air Tuesday
Rick Mercer films a segment about the Last Spike. |
Craigellachie British Columbia - Rick Mercer blew through the Revelstoke area last weekend to
film a show centred around the 125th anniversary of the driving of the Last Spike.
Jennifer Dunkerson, curator of the Revelstoke Railway Museum, was one of the few locals lucky enough to meet the popular Canadian comedian and TV show host.
"We got a chance to meet him and shake his hand," she said. "I got an autograph and we had our picture taken with him as a group from the
museum."
She and others from the railway museum were able to watch Mercer and his crew film a segment at Craigellachie. She said he did some interviews with Parks
Canada's Marnie Digiandomenico and then staged a spike driving competition with the North American woman's champion.
Dunkerson said Mercer also filmed in Glacier National Park but she was only there for the Craigellachie segment.
The episode airs this Tuesday, 9 Nov 2010 on CBC at 8 p.m.
