Regina Saskatchewan - On Wednesday at noon, members of the Regina RCMP detachment responded to a
report of a truck striking a railway signal pole at a Canadian Pacific Railway crossing.
A northbound pick-up truck was approaching a railway crossing on Highway 6 near the Evraz steel plant in Regina. The lone occupant, a 28-year-old man, saw a
train coming down the tracks. The visibility was poor and when the driver saw the red flashing lights on the pole, he hit his brakes and slid into one of the
poles, dislodging it.
Both the truck and the pole ended up in the ditch.
Witnesses at the scene confirmed the driver's story. There were no injuries and no charges are forthcoming.
There are no signal arms at the crossing location. There was damage to a crossing pole, said a CPR spokesman. He was not sure on the cost of damages at the
time. Signal maintaining crews were at the scene shortly after to repair the pole.
