More Details Released on CP Train Derailment
Portage la Prairie Manitoba - A train derailment temporarily closed the Third Street N.E. rail
crossing in Portage la Prairie Monday.
The derailment happened just before 3 a.m Canadian Pacific Railway spokesman Kevin Hrysak said.
Two empty hopper cars hooked onto a freight train heading west to Minnedosa jumped the tracks.
"It was switching and doing some work in the yard prior to that and it moved," Hrysak said.
No injuries were reported and the Third Street N.E. rail crossing was open again at around 11 a.m.
There was also no environmental risk, as the cars were only used to haul grains and similar commodities.
