Former Rail Station Vacant No More
Brandon Manitoba - The long-vacant Canadian Pacific Railway station at 10th Street and Pacific
Avenue is set to start filling up. Westman Immigrant Services will move in this September.
WIS's director of settlement services Leslie Allen says the move will be "extremely positive" for their clients, who currently move between two
buildings on Princess Avenue.
"It has certainly been the board's wish and dream for quite some time to bring both of the EAL and the settlement program under one roof," she said.
"So, it's going to be a lot more streamlined for our clients and we're going to be able to pool resources between the two programs better than what we've
been able to do currently."
The 14,000-square-foot, two-storey building, which celebrates its 100th year in 2011, is being restored by Winnipeg-based developer Jon Hooker, who also owns
the now-collapsed Brown Block further up the street.
