CPR Adding Jobs to Meet Demand
Calgary Alberta - Canadian Pacific Railway is ramping up its hiring, looking to add another 1,500 jobs across the country, including
more than 200 in Calgary and southern Alberta, to handle increasing demand for service.
Spokesman Ed Greenberg said the positions include rail car and diesel mechanics, locomotive conductors, and rail traffic controllers.
"We've seen growing demands from our customers", he said. "We need to respond to that situation, as well as the natural attrition that takes
place".
In the company's last financial update it reported revenue was up across all lines of its business, with demands increasing.
CP reports again next week, but less than a month ago warned of lower earnings because of severe winter weather across its network.
