The building on the right in the background is the original 1869 station, situated
between the present structure and York Street. When the present structure was opened, the archway, for carriages, not railway cars, was removed, and the
remainder relocated to the corner of Northumberland and Victoria streets, where today it is housing apartments - 30 Jul 1898 H.F. Albright Walter Long

Train Station Exhibit Opens Today
Fredericton New Brunswick - A Celebration of Union Station on York Street, a new exhibit at the City Hall Gallery, opens today at noon.
The exhibit, presented by Fredericton Heritage Trust in partnership with the Fredericton Region Museum, explores the York Street Train Station and the adjacent
rail yards during its more than 100 years of operation (1869-1986), a time when it played an important role in the development of Fredericton and in the lives
of many of its citizens.
The extensive exhibit pays tribute to the importance of the railway and celebrates the recent restoration of the former CPR station building on York Street. It
features 60 images, portraying a broad range of historic events and everyday activities, many from private collections never seen before by the public.
The public is invited to attend the opening ceremony at the City Hall Gallery, which is located just inside the main entrance to city hall at 397 Queen St. The
exhibit can be viewed daily weekdays from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. until the end of July.
