Washed-Out Track Cause of ND Derailment
Kensal North Dakota USA - Canadian Pacific Railway says a train derailment in eastern North Dakota happened because a rainstorm washed
out the track.
Thirty-one of the 90 cars on the train went off the tracks Saturday morning northwest of Kensal, along with two locomotives.
Railroad spokesman Mike LoVecchio tells The Jamestown Sun that the only apparent leak was diesel fuel from one of the locomotives.
Contractors on Saturday used absorbent buoys to contain any spill. LoVecchio says the site is safe.
Arrowwood National Wildlife Refuge manager Kim Hanson says he thinks there might be some impact to the environment.
