New Home for Mosaic?
Regina Saskatchewan - Vision statement. Guiding principles.
Those two items were the meat of Mayor Pat Fiacco's announcement on Friday about the redevelopment of the Mosaic Stadium site and the rail yards between the
warehouse and downtown districts.
Work on a facility to replace Mosaic Stadium would begin on the rail-yards site in 2013 and would finish in 2016, Fiacco told reporters gathered at a media
conference on Friday.
Negotiations continue regarding acquiring the rail yards, but Canadian Pacific Railway's operations won't be moving until the end of 2012 in any case, so the
city has time on its side, Fiacco said.
He told reporters that large pedways over the railroad tracks, which are not moving, will be necessary to connect the downtown and the new development planned
for the rail yards, considering the weather conditions during winters in Regina.
