Truck Hit by Train
Olds Alberta - Three people are in hospital after the truck they were in was hit by a train at a marked crossing in Olds.
The crash happened at about 11:40 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of 50 Ave. and 50 St. in Olds.
According to RCMP, the 2002 grey GMC Sierra truck was traveling westbound on 50 St. when it collided with the southbound CP Rail locomotive.
Police say that the crossing arms and alternating flashing lights and bells were activated and functioning at the time of the collision.
The 20-year-old female driver, from Edmonton, and a 20-year-old male passenger, from Ontario, who was seated in the rear, were taken to the Olds hospital with
non-life-threatening injuries.
An 18-year-old male, from Manitoba, who was seated in the front passenger seat, was flown by STARS to Calgary where he remains in critical condition.
Police say alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
Olds RCMP with the assistance of a RCMP collision analyst and CP Rail Police continue to investigate.
