Talk of Principle Derailed at Alyth
Calgary Alberta - Re: "CPR won't sacrifice principles, says CEO," 28 Jan 2012.
I was fascinated to hear about the higher principles that guide the CPR. How odd.
In 2009, it chose to double the size of its Alyth yards without any community consultation, which not only violated the final report on proximity guidelines
and best practices for the Railway Association of Canada (which it helped author), which sets a minimum of 300 metres between a rail yard and a residence, but
its own corporate social responsibility report.
Thus, it managed to turn Inglewood, previously voted one of the top 10 coolest communities in Canada, into a place where the intolerable noise escalation has
destroyed the quality of life for many residents. This is your notion of "take care of the communities, take care of the environment", Mr. Fred
Green? I'd say your "social licence" should be revoked.
