TCRC - CP Negotiation Bulletin No. 8
All TCRC Local Chairs CPR Eastern and Western Regions:
Beginning 5 Mar 2012, your Bargaining Committee, accompanied by Sister K. Essery representing the TCRC-RCTC General Committee met with the Company in the
presence of Federal Mediation and Conciliation Services (FMCS).
As noted in our previous Bulletin No 7, earlier this week we filed charges with the Canada Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) against the company for Bargaining
in Bad Faith. Subsequent to those charges being filed, the company has indicated they will release some of the information we have been requesting.
Furthermore, the Conciliators have set up a meeting in Calgary for Wednesday 14 Mar 2012. Hopefully, this will provide us with the requested information we
require to properly evaluate, analyse, and understand the extent of their pension and other related demands. To date, the CIRB has not scheduled a hearing on
the charges.
This past week Mr. Rick Wilson, who is A.V.P. of Industrial Relations was leading the company's negotiating team. We're hopeful this indicates a positive
change.
The President of the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference has authorized your committee to poll the membership to obtain strike authority, should it become
necessary to take job action to protect the interest of the membership. You can expect the ballots to be circulated shortly.
We continue to get full support from TCRC National Office, Teamsters Canada, and we appreciate all of your unity and support. FMCS has scheduled our next
bargaining session for the week of 27 Mar 2012 to 30 Mar 2012 in Montreal.
Your Bargaining Committee will keep you informed on any further developments.
In Solidarity,
Dave Able - General Chairman LE West
Dave Olson - General Chairman CTY West
Benoit Brunet - General Chairman LE East
Bruce Hiller - General Chairman CTY East
