Roads Close as Delta Train Bridge Construction Resumes
Cambridge Ontario - The city's biggest road construction project has kicked back into high gear.
Crews have resumed work on a $25-million bridge over the Canadian Pacific Railway line, which crosses busy Hespeler Road just north of the Delta intersection.
Area residents have been told the project remains on schedule to have the bridge completely open by 31 Oct 2012. Work started in May 2011.
Gradually over the winter, contractors built up on the eastern half of the bridge, north and south of the tracks.
Monday, work expanded to include nearby Brooklyne Road and Norfolk Avenue. Access from those roads to Hespeler Road will shut for about six weeks. Traffic will
detour along side streets to access Hespeler Road at Avenue Road.
A traffic diversion around the work along Hespeler Road remains in place.
In early summer, the bridge proper over the Canadian Pacific Railway tracks is expected to be open to vehicle traffic. Then workers will build the western half
of the bridge, stitching it to the first half.
