Otonabee River Bridge Repairs Plan Up for Final Approval
Peterborough Ontario - An estimated $2.5-million plan to rebuild the pedestrian bridge over the Otonabee River at the south end of the
city's downtown returns to city council Monday night.
Council endorsed the proposal during its planning committee meeting two weeks ago.
Construction could start in the fall and the engineering firm estimates that the pedestrian bridge could be opened in the spring.
The path is connected to the Canadian Pacific Railway bridge that's just south of the No Frills grocery store at the south end of Water Street.
Council endorsed a plan for how to pay for the project and hiring Sanchez Engineering Inc. for $148,890 plus tax for the design and construction administration.
The city would apply for $832,500 from the federal Community Infrastructure Investment Fund and it would delay the planned Rotary Trail link to the trail that
goes to Lakefield to use $192,500 from that project's budget.
