New Brunswick Contributes to Building Restoration on Ministers Island
Minister's Island New Brunswick - The New Brunswick department of Culture, Tourism, and Healthy Living announced it is contributing
$98,000 towards restoration work on Ministers Island, the summer estate of Sir William Van Horne, an executive in charge of construction of the Canadian
Pacific Railway during the 1880s.
"The provincial contribution will be used for foundation repairs to the barn and restoration at the main house, Covenhoven," the province stated in a
press release.
Ministers Island, which is accessible by vehicle at low tide, is both a National Historic Site and a Provincial Heritage Place.
It is located on the Bay of Fundy about 90 kilometres west of Saint John, near the U.S. border.
Ministers Island is owned by the province and operated through agreement with the Van Horne Estate on Ministers Island Inc.
